Verizon says the standard 150Mbps service costs $75 a month, so customers who upgrade to gigabytes from the plan will pay $95 a month. But customers on other plans may see higher or lower prices if they want to upgrade to gigabytes.

There was also confusion about the $70 deal for new customers. A Verizon spokeswoman said yesterday morning that there were "no plans" to raise the price above $70, and that it was not a promotional price that would automatically increase over time.
