In rural Africa, where the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) says it is looking for an armed ISR to replace the Pilatus PC-12, based on the UC-28 Dracos it currently flies, Sky Warden does not seem to be out of place.

It is based on Air Tractor AT-802, familiar for agricultural applications. About 36 of these "dust" are already operating on the continent. This could be a factor in choosing a Draco replacement if SOCOM's Armed Overwatch acquisition is funded.
Earlier this month, SOCOM awarded five companies a total of $ 19.2 million to showcase potential low-cost aircraft for flight monitoring and to strike in tight locations such as Africa. Such a potential "armed surveillance" role would be seen by some observers as an addition to the Air Force's abolished light attack program (2009-2020).
Congress has been wary of Armed Overwatch's efforts and views with skeptical eyes. In fiscal year 2021, the Defense Policy Bill, it banned SOCOM from acquiring Draco substitutes, but allowed the order to continue the assessment. Five aircraft have been selected to take part in the demonstration flight, which is scheduled to take place at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, from June 14 and ending July 23.
There is no guarantee that the 'winner' will actually sign a production contract, but many interested candidates are expected to attend.

The L3 also acts as an "operator-by-operator" angle with some of the former U-28 drivers and engineers among its development team, including Savoie himself.

"Having operated the Pilatus [UC-28] from a dilapidated or even improved location, I personally watched the pilot hold the locomotive by squeezing his nose alone," Savoie said. "With designs like the 802, it is impossible to fire guns. The main design of aircraft is not only able to survive from such an environment, it thrives in them."
The Sky Warden's six-hour attack at a range of 200 nm (up to 10 hours of total endurance) and a payload of 6,000 pounds seems to be a good comparison with other rated aircraft. The aircraft has an organic fire control system or can carry a government system.
Attack options include the Advanced Precision Kill Laser-Guided Weapon System, the GBU-12 Paveway laser-guided bomb, and the interoperability with conventional launchers used by some AC-130 variants to fire Griffin missiles or Coyote UAVs.
